BCVerified was built to solve a simple problem: it is too hard for British Columbia homeowners to know if a contractor is actually licensed and trustworthy.
Most contractor directories in Canada are American-owned or focused on Toronto. They don’t check BC government registries. Homeowners in Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, and across the province are left guessing — relying on Google reviews and word of mouth to vet someone before letting them into their home or trusting them with major work.
We are changing that.
What we do
BCVerified is the only contractor directory in British Columbia that checks every listing against BC government registries before it goes live. We verify against:
BC Housing — for general contractors and renovation specialists
Technical Safety BC — for electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, and HVAC technicians
WorkSafeBC — for active workers compensation registration
If a contractor cannot be verified, they don’t get listed. No exceptions.
Who we serve
We serve two groups, and we are honest with both:
For homeowners — we give you the verification information you need to hire with confidence. We don’t pretend to guarantee quality of work, but we do guarantee that every contractor on our site is who they say they are.
For contractors — we give legitimate licensed BC contractors a place to be found by the homeowners who specifically want a verified professional. No race to the bottom on price. No competing with unlicensed operators.
Where we are based
BCVerified is based in British Columbia and built specifically for British Columbia. We are not a national platform with a BC page. We are not a tech company in another country. We are local, focused, and accountable to the homeowners and contractors we serve.
